We have an opportunity for a field based Technical Support Engineer within the Amicus ITS Managed Services team covering the M4 / Suffolk / Staffordshire and the surrounding regions. Ideally, the successful candidate will be based within or close to the M40 / M1 motorway corridors.
The role of the Professional Services Team is to meet the requirements of the customers and Managed Service SLA’s for on-site support, infrastructure support and the repair & maintenance for hardware and software from a variety of vendors such as Dell, HP and IBM. Equipment includes but is not limited to:
- Desktops
- Printers
- Servers
- Cisco Catalyst Switches (2900 / 3500 series)
- Cisco Routers
- SANs
The role will be based from home and although not shift based, does have an out of hours 'On-Call' element which is (currently) one week in 3 INCLUDING overnight and weekends. In situations of colleague absence, this may be increased to one week in 2 but this will typically only be on a temporary basis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Being a escalation point for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues from 1st and 2nd line engineers for incidents or problems
- Work as part of and support the Professional Services Team
- Provide a high quality support service to our managed service clients
- Working with the Service Management, Technical Support Services and Project Teams to develop the 24*7 processes, ensuring service is delivered in line with contractual SLA's
- Working with the Project Teams to deliver new infrastructure and assist with project and implementation delivery
Technically the successful candidate will have an MCITP (preferably in Windows 2008), Cisco CCNA. Knowledge of Citrix, VMware and Cisco technologies would be beneficial. In addition, although not essential, you should be HP Server & Desktop Accredited or prepared to attain them within 3 months. IBM equivalent accreditation would be considered. Finally, Ghost experience will be required for desktop and laptop imaging.
You will have good communication and telephone skills, be of smart appearance, self confident and dedicated to providing a professional level of customer service. You must be analytical and innovative with a proactive approach, able to work under pressure.
The role will be based on Mon to Fri covering the hours of 08:00 to 18:00; however some degree of flexibility is expected in order to meet customer contractual requirements. Overnight stays away from home may be necessary on occasion.
Driving is very much an integral part of the role so a clean driving licence, and the willingness to drive an average of 600 miles per week, is essential.
